I have a question regarding 'multisession' writting on CDR media.
HP 9100 series CD Writer
I bought this writer few years ago. At the beginning, I used this writer under Windows 98 SE. Later, I changed the OS to Windows XP Pro (SP1). As Windows XP comes with cd writing capability, I can write files into CDR without requiring any other software, e.g. Nero. Interesting part is I can use CDR (not CDRW) as 'floppy disk', meaning I can write (add files) many times until the CDR is full (something like "multisession" feature in Nero).
[b]LG CD writer 52x 32x 52x[b]
As the writing speed of HP 9100 CD writer was slow, I bought a new CD writer manufactured by LG. The LG drive was installed on a platform with Windows XP Pro. Unlike the HP 9100 CD writer, I can not use CDR as if it's a floppy disk, meaning I can only write ONCE for each CDR. After CDR is written once, I can not add files into the CDR again.
Would anyone pls advise, 'multisession' is enabled by 'software (driver)' or by 'hardware (built-in or available in certain drives only)'?
Is "multisession writing" enabled by software or
