Will spend some days in Naples next week, but I heard that the city is a bit insecure.
Any suggestions on how to stay safe?

Wow ... I am not from Italy but I visited Napoli 7 years ago....

Very few advices here:
- avoid Quartieri Spagnioli (Spanish Quarter);
- if you have to walk on night time on dark alleys, don't do it alone (I would avoid them on day time too...);
- around train stations (or in crowds) be VERY CAREFUL!;
- don't wear expensive clothes / watches / jewelry, don't use expensive cameras (look as poor as possible);
- wear a T-Shirt with SCC Napoli (or at least avoid t-shirts with the names of other teams);
- be careful when you cross the street - latin people drive like crazy - I know, I am one of them :-)

Some do's :

- you should get Pizza Margherita or Pizza Napolitane (not sure this is a good advice, you will not like another pizza after you eat the original...), spaghetti (try with seafood), sfogliatele, baba (local pastas), icecream, but again, don't use the restaurants around big train stations, (not only because of safety but food is usually better and cheaper in places usually not used by tourists)
- wine is amazing too (way better than their exports)

- if this is a pleasure trip try to see at least Pompei (30 km. east from Napoli), Museo Nazionale and Castel dell'Ovo. If you plan to see a lot of museums, try to get "Campania Card", that card could save you a lot of money (free entrance in a lot of places - museums, Pompei). But you have to research a little about this one, my info could be outdated here. And it depends if Italy has some kind of agreement with your "citizenship" country...it was easy to get as a romanian tourist, canadians can't get one, this is funny...)

- learn a little italian - it is the most beautiful language in the world.

Glad I don't have an expensive appearance. :detective_2: Hope my dslr won't be a problem.

I will definitely try some seafood.

Actually I am learning some basic Italian from a crash course book. :lol: Never know if my pronunciation is right.
